The Left & The Right

In Life we have our simple concepts of left and right. So Easy to understand, but a bit difficult to define. What is meant by left? Well, it's easy it's that side. And the Right - Well, it's the other side.

So some how as we grow we acquire this understanding through culture. The simple fact of concepts like left and right is that you can't have one without the other. To gesture to the left, is to imply the presence of the right and vice-versa. To further entwine these two conceps for we humans, it is a neuroscientific truth that the left hemisphere of the brain is wired to the right hemisphere of the body, and the right hemisphere to the left.

The left brain tends to be associated with linear, logical processes, as well as the right side of the body. While the right side of the brain tends to be associated with creativity, imgination, new ideas, insight, and the left side of the body.

Our human culture has naturaly grown to understand these truths in our use of language. Consider political "rights" as being the spelled out logical rules that are delineated. Consider the "Right" in politics to be supposedly the conservative branch, that tends to be more analytical and concerned with established rules and practices. Meanwhile the political "Left" is hypothetically interested in creative solutions and new ways of approaching problems.

Thus we see that our language has evolved out of a feeling associated with these two ideas. When we are thinking about our rights or in a conservative, analytical fashion we are using our left brains, and thus are feeling more on the right side of the body. When we are being more creative, we are using the rightbrain and so sensing more on the left side of the body.

Perhaps an ideal political body would function in much the same fashion. The ideal "lefties" would have new, creative ideas, while those on the right would keep these in check ny asserting more established, codified tradition.

And so perhaps, as an ideal human being would be able to function with all parts of their minds working seamlessly together, so to would the ideal political body be well served by such people, and buy a community of different, balanced minds.

The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius

A remarkeable number of ancient cultures have told us of a remarkeable transfomation which is to take place in this time period.

The ancient Mayans developed a sophisticated astronomical calendar which begins a new era on December 21, 2012. Many Christian theologians speak of the second coming of christ, and a remarkeable transformation which will take place. And ancient Europeans gazed up into the stars and predicted the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius, a golden age of humanity.

Meanwhile, our planet continues to transform at an accelerating rate. Technological innovations have always come at an exponential rate, and cultural & neurological transformations follow.
